About thomas schroeder
Growing up in a hotbed of waterfowl artists, surrounded by marshes and lakes in rural southern Minnesota, I developed an interest in capturing the beauty of our natural surroundings at an early age. My training as an architect, has helped me to develop a strong understanding of composition. I have combined these influences with my personal faith and have come to believe that beauty can be found everywhere.
It is with this foundation, that I search my world looking for stories to tell about how we live now or in past times. I am attracted to older pieces and parts of this world that may have outlived their usefulness yet still have a story. I paint the old, the worn out, and the forgotten, things that may not be beautiful to others. I seek out stories that no one else will tell.
